It is a pig breed of Kagoshima, which has been improved to become the current Kagoshima black pig.
It is raised by designated person, and the feed is strictly regulated and controlled. No hormones are added, the fat content is low as well.
The meat is tender and meaty but not greasy. The most suitable cooking methods are hot pot and barbecue.
